SW 2023 Book

Summer Workshop 2023 documents a week-long design intensive uniting ten multidisciplinary designers around the challenge of interpreting Vignelli principles through the creation of a functional lamp. Held at both the Vignelli Center for Design Studies and The Corning Museum of Glass, the workshop explored the interplay of light, form, and glass as material. Guided by archival research, hands-on prototyping, and collaboration with master glassblowers, each participant developed a concept rooted in a selected Vignelli quote. The publication documents the resulting prototypes, processes, and reflections—offering a contemporary take on timeless modernist values through the illuminating lens of glass and light.
