Summer Workshop 2026 documents a hands-on design experience that invited seven multidisciplinary participants to reinterpret one of the most ubiquitous object forms across cultures—the bowl—through the lens of the Vignelli ethos. Held between the Vignelli Center for Design Studies and The Corning Museum of Glass, the workshop emphasized material exploration, conceptual rigor, and historical context. Each designer responded to a chosen Vignelli quote as a thematic guide, developing a full-scale prototype with support from Vignelli Center staff and Corning’s master glassblowers. The publication captures the resulting objects and ideas, demonstrating how timeless principles can inform contemporary, functional design.
