Bookends Book

Bookends chronicles the story of an extraordinary design collaboration between Wendell Castle and Josh Owen. Developed as the inaugural Support for Knowledge project, the book details how each designer independently created one half of a sculptural bookend set—never seeing the other’s progress—through a process known as “working in parallel.” Though the project began in 2017 and was interrupted by Castle’s passing in 2018, it was completed in 2022 and now resides in the RIT Vignelli Center Special Collections. Through archival materials, images, and narrative, the book captures the spirit of the collaboration and the lasting impact of two influential creative minds.
