SW 2022 Book

Capturing a week-long immersive experience that brought together ten multidisciplinary designers Summer Workshop 2022 explores the intersection of Modernist design principles and contemporary glassmaking. Held between the Vignelli Center for Design Studies and The Corning Museum of Glass, the workshop challenged participants to design a vase—one of the most universal and symbolic object forms—through the lens of the Vignelli philosophy. Guided by archival research, project mentorship, and hands-on collaboration with master glassblowers, each designer developed both a 3D-printed prototype and a final glass piece. This publication captures the process, ideas, and outcomes of a workshop grounded in material exploration, timeless design thinking, and personal interpretation.
